El monumento es el material y su construcción, los cuales encierran el vacío. La estructura del Monumento a las víctimas del 11M es una novedad. Por primera vez una estructura masiva de vidrio macizo está unida por medio de adhesivo transparente sin ningún elemento adicional metálico. La membrana exterior de 11 m estaá formada por 15.000 piezas de vidrio macizo conectadas por el adhesivo transparente. La capa inerior está formada por una membrana presurizada de ETFE. El vacio interior es el espacio del recuerdo, no el exterior.
The monument is the material and its construction, which enclose the void. The structure of the Monument to the victims of 11M is a novelty. For the first time a massive solid glass structure is joined by means of transparent adhesive without any additional metal element. The outer membrane of 11 m is formed by 15,000 pieces of solid glass connected by the transparent adhesive. The inner layer is formed by a pressurized membrane of ETFE. The interior void is the space of remembrance, not the exteriority.
